St. Albans, VT
Vermont's maple capital, a city with rich history of railroading, and home of the northernmost Confederate advance in America's Civil War. St. Albans City is a locale overflowing with Vermont culture. A valley city set against the lushness of Vermont's Green Mountains on one side, and the beauty of Lake Champlain on the other, St. Albans City is well worth the visit. The city is situated in the middle of St. Albans Town and is bisected by Route 7, one of the state's major north/south thoroughfares.
St. Albans Town is a farming cummunity built along the shore of Lake Champlain, a scenic mixture of the agrarian and the aquatic. St. Albans Town is home to Hard'Ack, a year-round outdoor recreation area that includes downhill skiing, snowboarding, sledding athletic fields, and wilderness trails. There are also three Vermont State Parks in St. Albans Town: Woods Island, Burton Island, and Kill Kare. With Interstate 89, as well as Routes 7 and 36, the town is easily accessed from the north, south, and east.
